Our Photo Journey

Took My Breath Away

Day eleven of our photo journey โ€ฆ

My Favorite Coffee Mug

It was so grey and dreary outside today that my plan was just to take a picture of my favorite coffee mug and call it good.

BUT . . . I knew that there was no way Haley was going to let me get away with that, so I didn’t even bother looking for an excuse.

C’mon Haley! Let’s jump in the car! Let’s see if we can find anything worth taking pictures of. There has to be some color somewhere.

So we cranked up the radio in our old car, and headed out the nearest county road, in search of something, anything . . .

Out near the Cossar State Park, we started seeing color every direction we turned.

Beautiful Pink Flower

It is instinctive for me to head straight to the flowers.

Orange Flower

It was as if God had reached down with a giant paintbrush and changed our world from black and white to full living color.

Deer Watching Us!

We were so busy looking at everything around us that we almost missed these guys quietly watching us. We sat there for several minutes, afraid to even breathe for fear that they would run away.

It was then we realized that there was one lone deer behind us that they must have been waiting for, so we continued on our way.

Beautiful Deep Pink Flower

I couldn’t help it. I had to take one more flower photo.

Beautiful Scenic Steam at Dusk

The sun was nearly gone when I glanced back at the edge of the stream, and it nearly took my breath away.

In that moment, I realized what my heart has been missing.

I don’t just like to be surrounded by the natural beauty of nature, I thrive on it. Soon it will be time to consider another move – back out to a country setting where I feel most at home.

On the lighter side, we learned a very valuable lesson today. Never, I mean never, even consider drinking a 32 ounce iced coffee drink before heading out for an early evening drive down a long country road. ๐Ÿ™‚

I enjoyed these. As a group they speak serenity to me. You found a good spot for the day. Isn’t it great to discover places again.

Cricket – you are truely an inspiration. The photo of the stream is breathtaking and I have enjoyed the previous days as well – the ugly cow made me laugh.

I am purchasing a digital camera next week (with all the accessories ) and I think I’ll take up your challenge of taking a photo a day. New Zealand has some truely beautiful scenery that I can’t wait to capture and I think I’m long overdue for a trip out of the city to find it!

Thank you again for being such an inspiration. I’m really looking forward to the days still to come and I’m hoping that you will continue with these photos after your challenge has finished.

I have been living in a city setting for the last ten years, after growing up in the green, green small towns of Michigan.

I hate this. There aren’t even any beaches here–and though I have never been big on swimming, I desperately miss being surrounded by rivers and lakes everywhere I turn. I wanna go home. I miss my Michigan. Like you, I thrive on the countryside. My very soul needs it desperately.

Close your eyes and remember it Dianne, and you can take your soul there anytime you want. ๐Ÿ™‚
