Simply No Reason

People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. When you figure out which one it is, you will know what to do for each person.”

As beautiful as I have always found this to be, I have a difficult time embracing it.

Do you truly believe this?

What if you came into someone’s life for a season, but they came into yours for a lifetime?

What about families utterly destroyed by divorce?

The death of an unborn child?

What possible reasons could there be?

Why do we call it a miracle when someone survives a horrible illness? Does that mean those who didn’t survive were not worthy of a miracle?

Is it possible there is simply no reason?

Perhaps sometimes, it just is…

Gee, I don’t know. I think that in many ways the ideas in the video are simplistic, rather new-Age-y. On the other hand, they certainly do carry some truth within them. I believe in optimism, but also in reality.

I call it, cautiously optimistic. 🙂

This seems to be an eternal unanswerable question…. Why?

How many times has that question been asked?

How many times has there been no answer?

Are such things the result of fate… choice… accident… luck?

If, as some believe, we are spiritual beings experiencing life in a physically manifested body, and if this pass through life is just part of a journey that never ends, then this life is simply a drop in the bucket of the experience that is “life”.

Perhaps what seems an eternity now is just the twinkling of an eye.

Perhaps like some people say, we live many lifetimes in many ways and/or forms… and we are here at this “moment in time” to experience life in the way we do so that we might learn or grow (evolve) spiritually.

Perhaps we must know the hard bite of loss and pain so that we are able to appreciate their opposites.

Perhaps it gets easier next time. Perhaps it gets harder.

Perhaps this pass through is all there is, there is no God and it ls just the luck of the draw.

Perhaps someday we will understand why, perhaps we wont.

Perhaps it is better that we don’t know why.
