Top 10 Favorite Quotes

Don't follow your dreams; chase them. - Richard Dumb

Although I don’t have a clue why, I am addicted to quotes. My top 10 list of favorite quotes is constantly changing, perhaps because our lives are continuously evolving. These are ones that I am especially partial to right now, in this moment…

When you have come to the edge of all light that you know and are about to drop off into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing one of two things will happen: there will be something solid to stand on or you will be taught how to fly.” Patrick Overton

And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” Anais Nin

Learning how to be still, to really be still and let life happen – that stillness becomes a radiance.” Morgan Freeman

I have a “carpe diem” mug and, truthfully, at six in the morning the words do not make me want to seize the day. They make me want to slap a dead poet.” Joanne Sherman

For all sad words of tongue and pen, The saddest are these, ‘It might have been’.” John Greenleaf Whittie

Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be.” Abraham Lincoln

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” Mark Twain

Cricket, How can you pick only 10? I collect quotes and have pages of them – as you said, it depends on the day and the emotion.

    My Favorite is
“Two roads diverged in a wood and I,
I took the road less traveled by and
that has made all the difference”
    Robert Frost

I know there is more to the poem but that small segment has stuck out in my head at each fork in the road since my Sophomore year in High School when I read it. It also brings to mind the scene from Beauty & the Beast where Belle’s father is headed off to show off his invention and comes to a fork in the road in the woods and looks down the the road one is sunny and the other is dark & miserable and chooses the darker one. His choice made the difference in the story line…well at least for that movie.
    I love inspirational quotes!

Quotes always get me thinking. Sometimes they are so profound. Other times I even like to argue with them when they seem to oversimply, or when I find contradicting ones.

Some of my fav’s come from the movie Steele Magnolias
    1) An ounce of pretention is worth a pound of manure
    2) Boys are horrible creatures; they’ll ruin your life
    3) Looks like two pigs fightin’ under a blanket
4)Ouisa’s never done a religious thing in her life! –Now that is not true. When I was in college my friends and I dressed up as nuns and went barhopping!
5)C’mon, Ouisa. You know I love you more than my luggage.

Does that give you an idea about my mood tonight!! Just want to giggle!! Maybe that’s because I can’t even see the word on the monitor….. LOL

Actually two of my fav’s are at the top of my personal blog

Cricket, thanks for the Mark Twain quote about twenty years. I sent it to my son who is graduating from college in May. He is contemplating some interesting choices. Rather than making the safe, easy choice that he may regret, I’m trying to encourage him to take a leap, as it may be his only chance.

“How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because someday in life you will have been all of these.” – George Washington Carver

    I love quotes, too… 😀

You don’t need to leave your room.
Remain sitting at your table and listen.
    Don’t even listen, simply wait.
    Don’t even wait.
    Be quite still and solitary.
The world will freely offer itself to you.
To be unmasked, it has no choice.
It will roll in ecstacy at your feet.
    — Franz Kafka
