    Blogging and photographing the world around me, through my eyes and through my heart. Although I often write for work, my favorite writing is always the times I write just for me. It’s a release, especially when something is important to me. Other times, words just get stuck in my head until I give in and write them down…

Why Ya Gotta Be So Angry?

January 20, 2015

Holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.”

Yes, I realize that anger is a natural emotion that we can’t always control feeling but we certainly have the power to CHOOSE how we are going to respond to that anger.

If we scream, holler, stomp our feet and throw a good old fashioned temper tantrum (and make sure we tell everyone on Facebook) what are we gonna solve besides dragging everyone else down with us? Is that fair?

Yes, I also realize that you have the right to be angry and I don’t have a clue what you are going through, nor can I understand without experiencing it myself.

Ya know what though, honey? You can’t possibly understand what everyone else is going through either, unless you have been there, so get over it.

Heck, I could share 53 years of reasons to holler and tell the world that life isn’t fair, but what the heck is the point? Will it change anything at all?

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.”

What if we decided to try something new? What if we DECIDED to use our anger to power positive changes in our lives or the people around us?

What if we got so angry that we walked away from the computer and started walking or exploring nature? What if we stayed out there until we felt peace again?

What if every time we got boiling mad we decided to challenge ourselves to bring a complete stranger a smile and kept doing it until we were smiling too?

What if we decided to make a difference?

Ain’t it the truth?! Granted, there are many things to get angry about these days, but what good does it do you? You’ve lost precious time that you’ll never get back. Yes, what the Serenity Prayer says; let it go, take action when you can, but don’t just stew in it (you’ll end up with a face like a prune and high blood pressure! :o)

Life is truly just far too short to get hung up on things we cannot control…
