Domainaholic Official Definition
Hello, my name is Cricket and I may be a domainaholic.
I have no idea if there is an official definition for this addiction, but it must have something to do with buying more domains than you can ever possibly develop just because you might do something with them someday. Even when they come up for renewal you still can’t get rid of them, just in case. You never know, right?
I considered starting a Domainaholics Anonymous Yahoo Group but since I already run something like eleven or twelve Yahoo Groups, I was a bit nervous that might lead to a Yahoo Groupaholic addiction when there has already been some questions if the number of blogs I own is an indication of being a blogaholic. I am not sure how many 12 step programs I can handle at the same time!
Funny thing is though that there are a ton of domainaholics out there. It is actually refreshing to find out I am not alone. I guess maybe it just goes with the territory when you work online.
On the other hand, I didn’t notice too many people coming up with ideas on how to stop buying domain names. Maybe we don’t want to stop. Maybe we should just start calling it a hobby!
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. I bought another domain tonight. There was something about the name SouthernTranquility.com that I just knew I was destined to own it. Nope, I have no clue what I am going to do with it, but I am certain I will do something with it someday!
Thanks For Being A Part Of My Life!
Well, if it helps, I’m a domainaholic, too. I buy domains without any idea what I may do with them….then, I get an idea but don’t have the time to develop them, so, I just keep renewing them for the day when I will be able to work on them.
I actually didn’t buy any domain names for 6 months at one point. But, I couldn’t stand it any longer and bought several all at once…I think it’s just easier to buy them one at a time and “embrace the addiction”.
Hi, my name is Michelle, and I am a domainaholic…I recently received a message from GoDaddy telling me that they see I have several domain names I am not using and asking me if I need any help with using them or selling them. I was so embarrassed that someone from GoDaddy would take the time out of their busy day to call and leave that message, I swore I was not going to buy another domain name that I would not use right away…then they put .com names on sale…
I am also on my way to joining the blogaholic group. Since you taught me how to set up a WordPress blog, I have become obsessed with widgets, plugins and learning how to create my own themes. Hopefully, this addiction will eventually help me with the first one by using some of the domain names I own. But for now, it is just another excuse for renewing the unused domains and for buying more.
